B.A.S.I.C Echo Course (Bristol Acute Setting & Intensive Care Echo)

This two day course will give participants an overview of the practise of bedside Echo in acute settings. Completion of the second day will give participations a basic level of competence in these scanning techniques.

The course is designed for all clinicians who care for critically ill patients – ITU/ED/Anaesthesia/Acute Medicine

Day 1

  • Basic Transthoracic views
  • 2D and M Mode Assessment
  • Assessment of LV Function
  • Valve Assessment & Pathology

Day 2

  • Right Heart and Preload
  • USS in assessing the Shocked Patient
  • USS of the Pleura and Lungs
  • FAST/FEEL/FATE/FICE - What it means

Echo is a practical skill and the course focuses on hands on scanning in small group workshops for maximum supervised scanning experience.
