Royal College of Anaesthetists Sixth Form Open Day

The Royal College of Anaesthetists runs an annual event, free of charge, for sixth form students who are considering a future career in medicine. The day aims to offer young people a better understanding of who anaesthetists are, what we do and our role within medicine.

The event begins with an informal talk from a Consultant Anaesthetist, who also assesses and marks UCAS application forms for Birmingham Medical School. This is followed by five or six interactive workshop stations (run by trainee anaesthetists) where students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with equipment used in medicine and appreciate the skills required to be a doctor.

The day is facilitated by Consultants who are actively involved in medical school recruitment and supported by trainee doctors. It provides a realistic and informative insight into current university entry requirements; life as a medicine student; and post-graduate training opportunities.

This event is hugely popular, so book early to avoid disappointment.

Schools are invited to apply for a maximum number of 5 students per school by completing the registration form found on the Royal College of Anaesthetists website. The event organiser is Chantelle Edwards.
