Peri-operative SIA

During your peri-operative SIA at GWH there is opportunity for attendance at daily consultant lead pre-operative assessment clinics, including face to face appointments and optimisation and note reviews. All colorectal patients are seen face to face to allow risk calculation and discussion. You would be encouraged to become involved in service developing and QI projects alongside the pre-operative lead, Dr P Dewar.

There is a weekly paediatric clinic, recently established with multiple opportunities for service development projects. This includes assessment and planning for patients with complex developmental needs to enable smooth running of surgery.

The FUSIC course runs twice a year, with excellent support to gain competencies and scans required. FUSIC MDTs run once a month and attendance over Teams is encouraged to improve technique and learning.

You would be encouraged and supported to attend CPET and MDT meetings at the BRI (would be arranged through CPET department at BRI). If required, attendance at complementary clinics in cardiology, orthogeriatics and respiratory medicine could be organised.
